Summary: The U.S. Mission in Budapest is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Temporary Social Media and Youth Outreach Assistant position in the Public Affairs Section (PAS).
The work schedule for this position is: Full Time – 40 hours per week
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position:  No

Duties:  The Social Media and Youth Outreach Assistant supports a broad range of electronic and social media communication in a complex Mission-wide public outreach strategy. Working with senior PAS staff, uses web-based information dissemination and communication tools and technologies to assist efforts to reach and engage target audiences interested in U.S. Government and Mission policies and programs. Incumbent researches and prepares new materials for use in PAS social media and digital outreach efforts, primarily on the U.S. Embassy’s Facebook page, Twitter and YouTube Channel.

. S/he assists in moderating interaction with social media audiences wishing to contact, query or otherwise engage the Mission. The Social Media and Youth Outreach Assistant supports PAS and the Embassy in identifying and reaching out to young audiences.  To achieve this goal, s/he develops programs specifically for this audience, and identifies innovative tools and methods four reaching out to them.  S/he also maintains an active working relationship with influential youth organizations and their members.

Qualifications and Evaluations:

Education: University degree (university degree in international relations, political science, communications or similar field) is required. Proven familiarity with social media tools through academic training or professional experience is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Administrative/Government two to three years from which at least two years experience in international relations, communications and/or social media development is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Strong knowledge of current social media platforms and venues for reaching different audiences, particularly youth.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level IV (Fluent) in English and in Hungarian is required. ENGLISH language will be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Ability to work effectively with team of PAS staff members; organizational skills; strong written and oral communication skills for communication with public; ability to prioritize competing work duties; strong attention to detail and sound sense of judgement; ability to respond to general information requests from the public and to recognize need to bring certain requests to the attention of supervisors.

 

Qualifications:  All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
