Today we commemorate the one-year anniversary of the murder of George Floyd by a police officer in Minnesota. We recognize the United States’ long history of racism and we recommit to the unfinished work of fighting racial injustice at home. The protests that took place last year across the world, including in Hungary, remind all of us that racism and xenophobia are global problems. By standing together against hate, discrimination, and intolerance wherever they occur, we can together honor George Floyd’s legacy and help build a more just and equal future for all.
