Ambassador David Pressman Introduces Himself to Hungarians

Today, Ambassador David Pressman shared a video to introduce himself to Hungarians.  He shared photos of his first travels to Hungary in the mid-1990s, when he made many Hungarian friends and explored Hungarian history, food, and culture.  In the video, the Ambassador explores important sites in Pest, including St. Stephen’s Basilica, the Great Market Hall, and the Danube riverside.

In the video, the Ambassador says:

Jó napot kívánok.  David Pressman vagyok.  I am incredibly proud to be the next United States Ambassador to Hungary.  I’m thrilled to return to Budapest, a beautiful and special place I first visited more than twenty years ago.  I will never forget trying my hand at making gulyás and hanging out with Hungarian friends; though luckily I have left behind my nineties fashion sense, I have never lost my fascination with the vibrant and unique Magyar culture.  [Egészségedre! Köszönöm!]

Over the past two decades, I’ve been working as a diplomat and as a lawyer.  I’ve had the honor of serving multiple United States presidents, working on important national security, human rights, and foreign policy challenges.  I’m excited to work alongside our Hungarian partners and friends to help our two countries grow stronger together.  I can’t wait to explore this country with my family and to meet as many Hungarians as I possibly can, both here in Budapest and across the country, and to try to learn as much Hungarian as I can.  [Let’s get to work.  Vágjunk bele!]

These are complicated times, and in complicated times it’s more important than ever for Americans and Hungarians to work closely together to address the challenges in the region and in the world.  Hamarosan találkozunk!
