Ambassador Pressman Engages Hungary’s Faith-Based Communities
After participating in the Mazsihisz-affiliated Frankel Synagogue’s Rosh Hashanah services in Budapest on September 15, U.S. Ambassador to Hungary David Pressman continues to engage with diverse faith-based communities in Hungary. On September 20, Ambassador Pressman met with members of the MAOIH orthodox Jewish community to discuss recent developments.
On September 23, Ambassador Pressman will travel to Pécs for additional engagements with religious communities, including plans to visit the Downtown Candlemas Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pécs, and a meeting with members of the Organization of Muslims in Hungary at the Al-Furquan Mosque to learn about both communities and discuss the importance of religious pluralism and independence.
While in Pécs, Ambassador Pressman will attend the Pécs Pride March to reaffirm the United States’ support for fundamental rights.
Ambassador Pressman will also join members of the Szim Shalom and the Dohány Street Synagogue communities in the coming days to observe Yom Kippur.
Any members of the media interested in covering the visit to Pécs may contact the U.S. Embassy press office at PressBDP@state.gov. Ambassador Pressman may be followed on Twitter: @USAmbHungary.
