Chargé d’Affaires Marc Dillard visited the cities of Pécs and Veszprem July 14-15. While in Pecs, CDA Dillard met with Mayor Attila Peterffy and Deputy Mayor Csaba Ruzsa, and enjoyed lunch at Kostolda, a restaurant operated by the NGO Colorful Pearls which assists local Roma women with professional and social skills development. He visited the American Corner, located in the Pecs Zsolnay Cultural Quarter, and toured the impressive Gyugyi Collection. While in Veszprem he met with Mayor Gyula Porga and Government Commissioner of the Northwest Hungarian Economic Development Zone Tibor Navracsics to hear about the city’s preparations to be European Culture Capital in 2023. He toured the Veszprem American Corner and learned more about their innovative outreach efforts, and also had coffee with former independent MP Zoltan Kesz.
