The American Corner Debrecen is pleased to announce a call for applications for GROW – Girls Rock Our World Summer Camp for high school girls in 2018.
Are you a change maker in your community? Would you like to empower yourself and become a leader? Do you have big plans for the future? Are you interested in community participation, international relations, social work and project management? Sharpen your communication and leadership skills and build your confidence in the GROW Camp 2018 where you can learn from American diplomats, role models, Hungarian professionals and alumni.
In 2018 after the success of the past five years we are announcing two camp dates (with similar objectives) doubling the number of participants and increasing the chances of highly motivated young ladies to improve themselves in the GROW Camp.
Camp dates
July 1-6, 2018; July 8-13, 2018
Selected applicants should be able to attend and make themselves available for both dates. The Camp will take place in Debrecen and in Hortobagy National Park (World Heritage Site). 15 high school girls per session will have the opportunity to participate. The camp will be entirely run in English.
The program will consist of workshops and presentations in the following topics: human rights and democracy, leadership, media, civil society, women studies, women empowerment, digital age and self-management in the virtual world, etc. Apart from these sessions, team building games, art and sport activities will also be an integral part of the camp.
Costs
For successful applicants; all costs will be covered by the organizers, except for TRAVEL expenses and campers’ pocket money.
Who is eligible to apply?
– Hungarian high school student girls (anywhere in Hungary),
– with at least mid-intermediate level of English (both written and oral),
– who have shown talent and leadership in their communities (active volunteer, member of student organizations, etc),
– and are enthusiastic and motivated to learn and challenge themselves.
