The U.S. Mission in Budapest is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Boiler Operator.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time – 40 hours per week

The Boiler Operator is responsible primarily for the maintenance of heating and Domestic Hot Water (DHW) systems and appliances on United States Government (USG) owned and leased properties. Secondary duties are the maintenance and installation of general plumbing stems. Incumbent monitors, maintains, repairs, and installs furnaces and boilers in all USG owned apartments, buildings and compounds. In leased apartments tasks include monitoring and making recommendations on possible improvements or needed preventive maintenance measures to Landlords. This task requires both boiler technician and controlling/programming skills. The Boiler Operator checks and evaluates of all boilers, furnaces, and heating & DHV systems to identify opportunities for improvement of energy efficiency and other cost savings- as well as implementing green solutions where possible. General plumbing work includes maintenance, repair and installation of plumbing fixtures, adjustment of toilet and other bathroom equipment at all USG owned and leased properties. Employee performs preventive maintenance and repair of hot and cold-water systems, installs and troubleshoots home appliances (washers, driers, dishwashers, wall radiators, etc.), and assists in their repair/replacement. S/he responds to 24-hour emergency calls during off-duty hours when critical systems have stopped functioning, or there is an imminent threat to the life safety of personnel, or structure integrity.
