Ambassador Cornstein Visits Israel; Welcomes Hungary’s Extension of Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem through Opening of Diplomatic Trade Mission
March 18, 2019
Ambassador David Cornstein is traveling today to Israel on the occasion of the opening of Hungary’s new trade mission in Jerusalem.
He will join Foreign Minister Szijjártó in the official opening ceremony and welcomes this move by the Government of Hungary to deepen ties with Israel. Ambassador Cornstein believes that this action is “another positive development that will encourage other countries, including in the Visegrad 4 and beyond, to consider similar moves to further recognize Jerusalem’s central role in the State of Israel, just as the United States has moved its own Embassy to the capital.”
Ambassador Cornstein will also attend the opening and official launch of “The Year of Hungarian Culture” initiative, which marks 30 years since the reestablishment of diplomatic ties between Hungary and Israel.
The Ambassador will also meet separately while in Jerusalem with two old friends, U.S. Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman and Prime Minister Netanyahu.
