January 17th, 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Budapest Ghetto. U.S. Embassy Budapest Chargé d’Affaires Marc Dillard joined with members of the Hungarian Jewish community, government officials, and diplomats to visit the Dohany Street Memorial Wall to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust in Hungary.
It is the responsibility of every one of us to reject hate, intolerance and anti-Semitism, and to remember those who perished and those who survived in order to prevent such atrocities from happening again.
January 27th, in commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Chargé d’Affaires Marc Dillard attended the Holocaust Memorial Center’s program in remembrance of the approximately 600,000 Hungarian Jewish victims of the Holocaust. It is important to reflect on the historical facts of the Holocaust in Hungary, so that we can honor the victims and their descendants, and help ensure it can never happen again.
In remembrance of several significant anniversaries in January, the Political-Economic section at U.S. Embassy Budapest visited the Holocaust Memorial Center (Holokauszt Emlékközpont) in Budapest to pay its respects and reflect. #WeRemember and we will #NeverForget the victims of persecution by the Nazis and their allies or the bravery of those who fought against it.
